High school students build robot to toss 1st pitch at Mets game

- It has one arm, four wheels and is taking the mound at the Mets game as the first robot to throw the ceremonial first pitch at Citi Field.

DeGrom, Harvey and Syndergaard, watch out. Locust Valley's Falconbot is no joke. Accuracy without the injuries: the metal machine operates with a video game controller attached to a cell phone. Wi-Fi communicates with another phone on the bot to release the gear and launch the pitch.

The robot was three months in the making for one shot. They better not mess up!

Two community members were randomly chosen to perform the first pitch. The robotics team will be nearby to make sure everything goes smoothly. And if for some reason it doesn't, the students are prepared with an alternative: someone will throw the ball.

Maybe a little extra heat on the pros will help the team even out their record.
