NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A man threatened to pour acid on a woman's face if she didn't hand over money at an ATM on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
The NYPD is looking into whether the man is the same person wanted for a similar crime earlier this month.
In the most recent incident, the NYPD says the suspect threatened to throw the liquid on the woman if she did not remove $1,000 from the CitiBank ATM on 1st Ave. and East 68th St. at about 4 p.m.
The woman withdrew $500 and handed it to the man. He ran. She was not injured, said police.
The suspect was wearing a black jacket with a gray hoodie when he approached the woman after ATM hours.
On May 12, a man approached a 22-year-old woman from behind at about 5:30 p.m. outside the same ATM-only location.
Cops say he was carrying a bottle with a yellow liquid inside when he told the woman, "Yo, Mami, I have acid, and I'm gonna throw it in your face if you don't give me $1,000."
In this incident, the man is described by police as Hispanic, about 6 feet 4 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a gray hoodie and blue jeans.
