Trump and NASA astronauts live stream conversation

- President Donald Trump made a very long distance call Monday morning to Commander Peggy Whitson aboard the International Space Station to congratulate her for breaking the record of total cumulative time spent in space by an American astronaut.

Whitson surpassed astronaut Jeff Williams' record of 534 days, according to NASA.

Whitson, the first woman to command the ISS, spoke with President Trump and his daughter, Ivanka, along with NASA astronaut Kate Rubins from the Oval Office.

At one point during the video call, Whitson told the president that the astronauts cleaned up their urine and drank it, to which the president smiled and responded, “That's good.  I'm glad to hear that.  Better you than me.”

Commander Whitson, who was joined by  NASA Flight Engineer Jack Fischer, is due to return to Earth in September.
