NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - GirlAGain Boutique is a dream come true for so many girls. The White Plains store not only sells second-hand American Girl dolls and accessories at a lower price, it also helps young women on the autism spectrum.
Store owner Marjorie Madfis founded the nonprofit organization Yes She Can. Then in 2014 she opened GirlAGain. In the workroom, trainees learn job skills ranging from preparing inventory to using Excel spread sheets. Marjorie's passion to help young women is personal because her daughter has autism.
GirlAGain is a nonprofit store that relies strictly on donations, many of which come through the front door. Others are mailed in from all over the country.
Sheri Baron is the program director and one of several clinical psychologists who volunteers here once a week.
Many of their trainees do find employment, helping them to become independent women.
