Thanksgiving Day parade brings joy to many despite heightened security

- Heightened security didn't stop millions from lining city streets for the 90th annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

It has become a tradition- part of what we had grown to expect on this day of thanks starting at Central Park West before the march down 6th avenue.

The energy was warm and the people. They came from places like Tampa, Florida and Virginia Beach.

The 90th iteration of the Thanksgiving Day Parade was everything we've grown to expect -  Balloons, Floats, Cheerleaders and Marching Bands, the 2.65 Mile parade route, the "place to be" in NYC.

"You feed off the energy of all these people. I do. It’s a lot of fun,” said Ron, a parade participant.

There were added security concerns this year, which was revealed in a number of ways, most noticeably the presence of NYPD officers and bomb sniffing dogs.

In the end, it went as planned. There they stood along the parade route- Millions reminded by what we share in common. It felt good. Some might say that's what this day is all about.
