Every local news holiday cliche in 2 minutes

- It's beginning to look a lot like the most wonderful time of the year. And that means 'tis the season for that most comforting and joyful of traditions: holidays local news cliches, complete with all the trimmings.

'Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all throughout this nation, millions packed their patience for journeys over the river and through the woods to grandma's house to talk -- and eat -- turkey. After a long winter's nap spent sleeping off our stuffed stomachs, we'll then bust doors and shop 'til we drop for stocking-stuffers with which to stuff our stockings and gifts to place beneath our trees for that person who has everything.

Baby, it's still only kind of chilly outside, but when Jack Frost, Mother Nature and Old Man Winter do team up to let it snow and the white stuff's flyin', it'll be time to jingle bell rock your way out of that one-horse open sleigh and deck the halls.

Now you're getting into the holiday spirit. When dreaming of a cliche-Christmas come early you're going to run into some ghosts of cliche Christmases past. All *they want for Christmas are a few tidings and some eggnog, which you can break out as you see fit. And if you're ho-ho-horrible this holiday season, bah-humbug to you, Scrooge. You steal anything from anyone and we're calling you a grinch.

Whether you were good or bad this year, no matter with what you hung your stocking, on the 24th day of Christmas not a creature will be stirring, not even---actually, we'll still be here dropping cliches about that Jolly Old Elf, Kris Kringle, Santa, Saint Nick, The Big Guy, Father Christmas, sneaking his bowl full of jelly down your chimney to drop off all that loot.

And after each of our gods has blessed us, every one, we'll prepare to say goodbye to this year, ready for a midnight kiss and hold family and friends close to ring in the new year.

This and every holiday season, it's our opinion all that tired language truly gives us all something to be thankful for.
