The Children's Aid Society's continuing mission

- Children are the most vulnerable of all. Many kids already conquering the world, but they can't do it alone. The Children's Aid Society is by their side.

The Children's Aid Society's mission is to support families living in poverty since 1853 in New York City. It serves 50,000 children and their families. Their help starts from the moment a child is born. The society offers early childhood programs, after school programs, summer camps, teen programs, a health division, foster care and adoption services.

The programs focus on four target neighborhoods: the south Bronx, Washington Heights, Harlem, and the north shore of Staten Island.

The Children's Aid Society's early childhood division serves 1,200 families a year. The Milbank Center cares for children from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. They learn and are also fed. These services are at a low cost if not free to the families.

The Children's Aid Society helps children every step of the way. That means also making sure their families have what it takes to strive by providing them with support services, GED classes, cooking classes, housing and food.
