- Touched by the outpouring of love and support from many, the widow of FDNY Deputy Chief Michael Fahy said she knew she had to do something to honor her husband's sacrifice. He was killed in a house explosion in the Bronx last week.

The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation is known for paying the mortgage of fallen first responders. The foundation was going to do the same for the Fahy family.

But instead, all the money that would have been raised for the Fahy family will not be used to pay their mortgage. Fiona, his widow, and her family have decided to give that money back so they can built homes for American heroes.

Fiona said that when she heard from the foundation, she felt like it was a sign to do something that Mike would have wanted, which is to support Building for America's Bravest, a program that builds "smart" homes for catastrophically injured servicemembers.
