20th annual MulchFest

The 20th annual MulchFest launched over the weekend to provide New Yorkers with a fun and environmentally-friendly opportunity to recycle their trees into woodchips.  The chips will be used to nourish trees and gardens throughout the city. MulchFest takes place at 30 chipping sites and 48 drop-off sites in nearly 80 designated parks across all five boroughs.

At chipping sites, patrons are invited to bring home a bag of free mulch for their own garden. Free mulch collection bags will be provided at all chipping sites.

And this year, drop-off locations will be accepting trees starting Saturday, January 2nd and running through January 10th.

For more information and a list of sites in your borough, visit www.nyc.gov/parks and search for "MulchFest." MulchFest is supported this year by Whole Foods.
