Firefighters rescue cats from house fire

New Smyrna Beach firefighters saved three cats from a house fire Saturday evening.
Firefighters said they were called to a home at 725 Dougherty Street around 6:45 p.m., Saturday for reports of a home on fire.
When firefighters got to the home, they said they found flames coming out of the front of the home.
The fire was quickly put out and after searching the house, firefighters said they found three cats inside.
Two of the cats suffered smoke inhalation, but all three survived the fire.
No one was home at the time of the fire and damage to the structure was estimated to be around $30,000.
Firefighters said the cause of the blaze is under investigation.
