Woman trapped by fallen tree calls 911 to talk to mom

Tree falls on home

- She is trained in how to handle an emergency, but she never thought one would hit so close to home.

Le'Faydra Toney was at work at the Atlanta 911 center on Tuesday night when a co-worker said Toney's daughter was on the line.

"Luckily, my co-worker was like, 'I have your daughter on the line," explained Toney.

A supervisor allowed Toney to take over the call and she kept her daughter calm until help could arrive--a tree had fallen on the family's home, pinning Diamonique Foster, 22, in her bed.

"I know they're not supposed to patch me through to my mom, but I asked for her and they were able to put her on and I just instantly calmed down when I heard her voice," said Foster.

Firefighters arrived and were able to free Foster from the debris just 15 to 20 minutes later.

"I try to treat each call as personal, like every call is family in case," Toney said.  "You never know and in this case it was family, so it worked out well and my baby girl is OK."

The fallen tree destroyed the entire back half of the family's home and they have lost most of their possession.

A family friend set up a Go Fund Me page to help them get back on their feet:  https://www.gofundme.com/2rrvv94s.
