Three Marion County Korean War veterans were presented with a medal of honor Saturday.
The veterans, 88-year-old Miguel Lopez, 91-year-old Florencio Lorenzo and 89-year-old Raymond Medina were presented with the Congressional Gold Medal during a ceremony at the Hosanna Church in Ocala, Saturday.
The men were all part of the U.S. Army Borinqueneers 65th Infantry Regiment and served during the Korean War.
Sheriff Emery Gainey and members of the Marion County Sheriff's Office were in attendance to honor the veterans, which is the nation's highest civilian decoration.
The Borinqueneers became the only segregated Hispanic unit in U.S. Military history and they played a prominent roles in WWI, WWII and the Korean War.
