- A Florida teen who made headlines earlier this year for posing as a doctor was arrested Friday while trying to buy a car in Virginia.

Malachi Love-Robinson, 19, entered a Virginia car dealership in Stafford with an elderly woman and attempted to purchase a $35,000 Jaguar. He completed an online credit application and listed his companion as a co-signer.

Employees at the dealership became suspicious of Love-Robinson during his visit and Googled his name, at which time they discovered he had been arrested numerous times on fraud-type charges in Florida. They then became increasingly worried that he was trying to steal money from the elderly woman, who he claimed was his mother, to finance the vehicle.

Later on, employees called Love-Robinson to tell him that his application had been approved, and asked him to return to the dealership, where two deputies were waiting in the back.

The deputies approached Love-Robinson and spoke with him, then spoke directly with the elderly woman he was with. She told them that she had no intention of co-signing for the Jaguar and had not given Love-Robinson permission to give the dealership her information.

A later check with her credit card company revealed that there had been a $1,200 charge the day before for two iPads and a cell phone that she had not purchased. Love-Robinson had previously bragged to employees at the dealership about his recent purchase of two iPads.

The iPads were seized along with other items at the time of his arrest, and detectives are currently investigating further leads in this case.

Love-Robinson was charged with false statements to obtain credit, obtaining money by false pretenses and identity fraud. He is being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail on no bond.

Earlier this year, Love-Robinson was arrested for posing as a doctor at an illegal medical office he ran in South Florida. He was caught after performing a physical exam on an undercover agent and offering medical advice.

It was the second time he had been busted for such a crime. In October of 2015, Love-Robinson was investigated and cited for practicing medicine without a license.
