Comedian Steve Rannazzisi admits that he lied when he claims he had escaped the World Trade Center shortly before it was hit by a plane on 9/11. The star of "The League" and a one-hour special that is scheduled to run on Comedy Central this weekend has cited the close call as the reason he quit his desk job and moved to LA to become an entertainer.

The New York Times reports:  "Confronted this week, though, with evidence that undermined his account, Mr. Rannazzisi, after a day of deliberation, acknowledged on Tuesday that his account was fiction. Actually, he had been working in Midtown that day, and not for Merrill Lynch, which has no record of his employment and had no offices in either tower."

Rannazzisi also appears in a new Buffalo Wild Wings ad campaign.
