Authorities say a retired New York Police Department officer pulled out his gun to show it to a physician at a Long Island doctor's office and accidentally fired, wounding both of them.
Nassau County police say the 77-year-old retired officer, who was not identified, took out his licensed 10 mm semi-automatic pistol inside the Long Beach Road office at about 10:22 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The weapon accidentally discharged, striking the retired officer in the thigh. The bullet traveled through his leg and struck the physician in the right foot.
The injuries to both men aren't considered to be life-threatening. They were transported to a hospital for treatment.
Police say no criminality is suspected. An investigation is ongoing.
