CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Family members say an 8-year-old girl shot in the head by a stray bullet in Camden has died.
The death of Gabrielle "Gabby" Hill Carter was announced on Facebook Friday evening, two days after police say she was caught in the crossfire while across the street from her home.
She had been in critical condition at a hospital since Wednesday.
Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson says the gunfire broke out when several men opened fire on an intended target.
Authorities say following the shooting the men jumped in a car and fled. Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from the area.
No arrests have been made and authorities have increased to $12,000 a reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Gabby's killer.
