BBB says #UglyList2016 is a scam

Instagram scam
Here's an Instagram scam you need to be aware of. It's called the Ugly List.
If you don't have an Instagram account, your kids do. So, parents, you should get up to speed too so that you can pass this info along to them.
Instagram is a social media site that deals in pictures and some video now, too. You take a cool picture, add some pithy comment, hashtag it so that it really spreads around the site then post it.
Well, the hashtag causing trouble in this latest Instagram Scam is this #UglyList. It's a con that leads to hacking.
Here's how it works, according to the Better Business Bureau, Instagram users are fooled into thinking a friend tagged them in a post called "Ugly List 2016." It'll say something like, 'You're on the list.' Or,'Look who is on the list!' So naturally you click the link.
If you do, you'll be asked to put in your username and password again before you can see the list. Don't. This is scammer trying to get your personal information. If you do, well, they will hack your Instagram account and tag your followers in new "Ugly List" posts. This is how the con keeps going.
How to avoid being scammed.
  1. QUICK INTERNET SEARCH - anything shocking or sensational
  2. HOVER OVER LINK -  see where it's coming from
  3. REPORT IMMEDIATELY  - write Instagram
