Flags to fly at half-staff for 9/11 remembrance

The American and New York flags will fly at half-staff on state government buildings on Friday in remembrance of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, according to orders from New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

"With the 14th anniversary of the September 11th terrorist attacks upon us, we pause to remember the nearly 3,000 individuals who were taken far too early," Cuomo said in a statement. "They were mothers and fathers, brothers and sisters, employees who just began their day and first responders who put their own well-being aside to aid complete strangers."

Several ceremonies are set to be held around New York City and the state on Friday, including the main one at the World Trade Center site, which is home to the National September 11 Memorial Museum.
