Red bands worn as a sign of disgust, anger over attacks

Fox 35 News at 10 p.m.

- Sadly, it has become a common sight:  a blue or black band across the badge of a law enforcement officer, as a sign of mourning for fellow fallen officers.

Not so at the Groveland Police Department in Groveland, Florida.   Officers in the Lake County community have chosen to display a red band across their badges, in what they call a sign of anger and disgust over recent attacks on police.

"Groveland Police Department is joining in along with many other agencies by wearing these red bands across our badges to send the message that enough is enough," read a post on the agency's Facebook page. "We would also like to say thank you for all the support we have received from the community.  In the past few days we have received thanks from people as well as acts of kindness, treats, flowers, bibles and more."
