NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - A homeowner in Washington State says he was checking in on the house he had up for sale when he found many items missing and someone inside who said he was there to buy a microwave. Police in Pierce County told a local TV station that they believed a squatter sold the family's appliances and tools on Craigslist.
Ed Saurs says he and his family lived in the house for 25 years until recently when they moved to Olympia. Their old home was now on the market.
Saurs told local reporters that he heard someone run out of the house. A neighbor's security camera captured images of a man-- the alleged squatter-- in the yard.
The family’s washer, dryer, refrigerator, stove, mattress, television and tools were sold.
The estimated loses were about $5,000.
