The Grio's mission and future under new ownership

- Diversity of thought lives in New York City. It can be found on the streets of Fort Greene, Brooklyn. Just look around. It's what makes it unique. But that same diversity is often missing from when we turn on the TV or pick up the paper. Specifically and historically, black voices are missing.

For the last 7 years, The Grio, a black-owned multimedia news platform, has filled that void. Founder David Wilson talked to Fox 5 said their job is to tell the stories nobody is telling,

This week, Entertainment Studios acquired The Grio. The move is expected to expand their reach and resources.

Founder, Chairman and CEO Byron Allen, a self-made media mogul and billionaire, has a vision. He shared that vision with Fox 5. He said Wilson will continue as executive editor.

There are very few black-owned news platforms. The move coincidentally happens as Ebony and Jet magazines are also being sold.
