Scared thieves run after homeowner broadcasts message to them over remote security system

- Two burglars were sent running scared after getting a broadcasted message from the homeowner who spotted the thieves on his remote security system.

The crime occurred Tuesday at a home in Upper Pittsgrove Township, New Jersey. Cops say the crooks kicked in the door and made their way inside around 9:30 a.m.

The homeowner’s dogs sniffed the two men, but otherwise left them alone as they went through the house. In security video released by New Jersey State Police, the crooks can be seen carrying a bag and wearing gloves.

At one point in the video, which was released without sound, the thieves appear startled and quickly flee the house.

Police say their reaction was caused when the homeowner, who had discovered the break-in while watching his remote security system, made a statement to the crooks.

“We shall not repeat what was said, but needless to say the burglars read the message loud and clear,” police said in a statement online.

Officers say they were able to steal a lockbox containing jewelry and personal documents before being scared away.
