A huge fire in Brooklyn destroyed several buildings and left 11 people injured. The fire started about 10 p.m. Tuesday at 1427 DeKalb Ave. in Bushwick. It spread to four other buildings on both sides. All of the buildings affected by the fire were three story row homes.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries. One civilian was taken to the hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries.
More than 200 firefighters fought the flames until the fire was declared under control at about 1:22 a.m. The cause of the fire is unknown and the investigation continues.
Many people were left homeless by the fire but the exact number is unknown.
