JetBlue flight school, no experience required

- If you're like me and always wanted to be a pilot or an astronaut but have zero experience or skills in those fields, JetBlue has as announced a solution for one of those problems.

It's officially called Gateway Select. It is a new partnership between JetBlue airlines and pilot training business CAE. It's a four-year intensive program with the goal of turning inexperienced newbies into frequent fliers.

What makes it different is that there is no previous flying experience required. The airline says it was designed specifically that way to make the profession accessible and to get people who have the qualities most wanted in a pilot.

JetBlue U., as its been dubbed, will put students through classroom learning, extensive real-world flying experience and full-flight simulators all while racking up the FAA-required 1,500 flight hours.

When all is said and done, JetBlue says a graduating pilot will become a new hire and begin orientation standard for Embraer E190 first officer.

The four year program will cost about $125,000 per person. The average salary for a beginner JetBlue pilot is just under $41,000. If you're interested, the airline is taking applications now at pilots.jetblue.com.
