NEW YORK (FOX 5 NEWS) - For Mike DelGuidice, a return to his alma mater, Long Island's Miller Place High School, is an opportunity to inspire the next generation of music enthusiasts. The musician has had an incredible ride, from leading the popular Billy Joel cover band Big Shot for years to finally joining the real Billy Joel band, regularly performing with the piano man himself in Madison Square Garden.
And it all started in the high school. As his career skyrockets, Del Guidice brought a dose of wisdom and plenty of tunes to these talented students. He even played the same piano that he learned on when he was in school.
With this member of the class of 1990 paying it forward, he inspired the students and even his high school music teacher, just as Billy Joel inspired him.
As he shared his experiences, DelGuidice said he is still in awe of the incredible journey he enjoyed since playing the piano at Miller Place High School.
