NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - A double decker tourist tour bus has crashed into a tree at Fifth Ave. and E. 63rd St. on Manhattan's Upper East Side. There are reports of as many as nine people injured. The extent of those injuries is unclear but the FDNY said none appear to be life-threatening.
The bus appears to have struck a tree near the Central Park Zoo at about 1:15. The top level of the bus is open air.
Some passengers were seen on stretchers. The area is usually busy with tourists. It was unknown if anyone on the sidewalk was among the injured.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area as several streets were been closed.
