Dr. Oz: Sheen off HIV meds; believes he's cured

- The flight home from New York to Los Angeles in November, after he announced that he was HIV positive, was a turning point for actor Charlie Sheen. The troubled star makes the revelation to Dr. Mehmet Oz in a preview of the Dr. Oz Show.

“Today, you’ll see things you never imagined before. He’s gone into directions that are quite different that many of us would have thought or expected," said Dr. Oz.

Speaking with Rosanna Scotto and Greg Kelly on the FOX 5 NY morning program, Good Day New York, Dr. Oz said, "It's a story of redemption."

The pair spend a day at Sheen's home where the actor demonstrates emotional and physical pain.

"I think he made a major breakthrough when he went public," said Dr. Oz.

Sheen has battled drug and alcohol addiction for many years and had a very public breakdown after he was fired from the hit TV series, 'Two and a Half Men.'

Sheen will appear on the Dr. Oz Show Monday and Tuesday at 2 p.m. on FOX 5.
