NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The Urban Search and Rescue Task Force in New York, otherwise known as Task Force 1, went to Puerto Rico for two weeks to help after the devastating hurricane.
The members are made up of elite members of the city's police and fire departments.
One of the areas the team worked at was in Utuado. The small village lost the only bridge that provides access, so the team ferried food, medicine and water to the residents. They also repaired a hospital generator to help the staff there continue their medical work.
FDNY Captain Liam Flaherty and NYPD Detective Chris Bonomo, along with rescue dog Nash, appeared on Good Day New York to talk about their experiences in Puerto Rico.
