Nancy Kerrigan heartbroken over Colorado shooting victim's death

- Former figure skating Olympian Nancy Kerrigan says she is devastated over the loss of Police Officer Garrett Swayse in the shootings at a Planned Parenthood Clinic in Colorado Springs last week. "Garrett Swayze was like a brother to me when we were kids," said Kerrigan.

Swayse, 44, an officer with the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs, responded to an active shooter at the clinic when he was gunned down on Nov. 27.

"I spoke with his parents the other day and the only word they could come up with was devastated. It’s such a tragic, tragic loss. The whole thing is sad; it’s senseless," said Kerrigan.

The pair trained together until they were in their late teens and Swayse decided to pursue ice dancing over figure skating.

“Still in my heart he’s like a brother and even though we went our own paths, that feeling is still there. He will be greatly missed," said Kerrigan.
