Meagan Good, DeVon Franklin detail celibacy

- Meagan Good and DeVon Franklin are a happily married couple. The secret to that happiness lies, in large part, to celibacy during their courtship.

They detail their decision to not have sex with each other or anyone else while they were dating in the new book, 'The Wait.'

"We feel this is a path to healthy relationships. We wrote the book to say, hey, here's another way you can do love that makes you feel healthy and happy," said Franklin, who is a producer and a Seventh Day Adventist preacher.

"All we depended on was the mental attraction," said Good.

Good, whose father is also a pastor, was involved in other relationships before dating Franklin.

Franklin had been celibate 10 years before marrying Good.

"Celibacy is doing it with a purpose -- with a spiritual purpose," said Good.

Among other techniques to a successful marriage, the couple says they practice:

praying together

"It gives you clarity. We fasted four months before we got engaged. It allowed us to be closer. You really get to know someone," said Good.

Franklin asked Good to marry him nine months after dating.
