Concussion concerns? Take up tennis says Laila Ali

- A boxing sensation in her own right, Lailia Ali, the daughter of Muhammed Ali, says she regrets not playing tennis professionally.

With so much talk about concussions during contact sports and their long-term affects on the brain, Ali says tennis could be the best alternative for aspiring athletes.

“You can be very successful in tennis and you can make a lot of money in tennis for someone who is a professional player and you don’t have to take the beating you do in football or boxing," said Ali.

With a record of 24-0, 21 knockouts, and five world titles, Alli is certain she had her share of concussions during her boxing days.

"I played tennis growing up, but I didn’t stick with it. It’s a regret of mine. I wish I would have because I would have been out there with Serena,” said Ali.

While she put down her boxing gloves after 10 years in the sport, Ali is now promoting tennis through the Youth Tennis organization.

She is encouraging parents to bring their children to World Tennis Day on March 8. There are events taking place across the country.
