- Thousands of servicemen and servicewomen leave the military every year, and many seek an education. Now you can join a challenge to help raise money to put veterans through college or grad school.

The Veterans' Education $1 Million Matching Challenge is a campaign hosted on The challenge seeks to supplement the G.I. Bill and help fund higher education for veterans.

Avis and Bruce Richards, the CEO of Marathon Asset Management, will match every dollar pledged between Veterans Day 2015 and Veterans Day 2016, up to $1 million.

"As Americans, we owe everything to these fine men and women who risk their lives to protect our freedom and safety," Richards said in a statement. "While Veterans Day is an important day to pay tribute to those who have served our nation, we believe all of us should consider what more we can do to honor our troops."

In addition to the matching pledge, the Richardses said they will donate $1 million to the University of Maryland to provide scholarships for veterans.
