Giuliani says no Trump intervention needed

- There is no crisis and no intervention is needed, says former NYC Mayor Rudy Giulliani. He was referring to speculation that GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has hit a low point in his campaign amid a back-and-forth with the parents of a dead Gold Star soldier.

"An intervention happens when you're a drug addict or an alcoholic. By the way, Trump does not drink and does not smoke," said Giuliani during Good Day New York.

As part of Trump's inner circle, Giulilani says the latest criticism is simply part of the ebb and flow of a political campaign. He also points out that Trump, like first-time candidates, make mistakes.

"It is no worse than what Hillary Clinton did when Hillary Clinton lied to the two Gold Star mothers and gave them a false report about how their children were killed (in Benghazi.) She knew the real reason and lied straight to their faces. Hillary says she can't remember. Hillary can't remember anything like her emails," said Giuliani.

The Trump advisor pointed out that former President George H.W. Bush was losing to Michael Dukakis by 17 points at this point in that campaign. Bush went on to win the election.

"What he needs to do is concentrate on the basics. It's time for a change. There isn't an American that thinks this country is headed in the right direction," said Giulilani.
