NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Acupuncture and cupping are popular forms of energy medicine, but have you heard of moxibustion and the use of ear seeds?
The ancient Chinese practice of healing helps relieve stress, manage pain, improve fertility and more.
Jill Blakeway, author and founder of the Yinova Center on West 17th St. in Manhattan, is a proponent of the practice.
"We integrate what we do with Western medicine treatments," said Blakeway. "The book is called the Science and Mystery of Healing. I went on a journey to explore the science behind what we do. I wanted to explain why. Harper Collins sent me off half way around the world to talk to healers and scientists."
People self-heal in response to prompts and there is science behind it.
"Moxa is an ancient treatment that is used to heat acupuncture pressure points. It heats the needle often and creates a little electrical intervention that travels through the fascia," said Blakeway.
It used for muscular-skeletal issues and even fertility issues.
