'Empire' is going back to 'Lyon' family focus, says Henson

- "I think the beginning of the second season we veered away from the family," said Teraji P. Henson. "It became a little glamorous with the 'who's who' of the show, and the audience didn't really like it. We introduced them to the Lyon family. That's who they fell in love with."

Henson returns as 'Cookie Lyon' in season three of 'Empire' beginning Wednesday at 9 p.m. on FOX 5.

"We got our mojo back this season," said the Golden Globe winner.

What fans won't be seeing is a reunion between 'Cookie,' and the character played by actor Terrence Howard, 'Lucious Lyon.'

"He's broken her heart one too many times. He's married now, so that's that. He married the enemy, 'Boo Boo Kitty.' It's done," said Henson.
