Allergy solution lies in your food and gut

- Fifty years ago, one in 30 people suffered from allergies. Today, that number is one in three, according to internist and author Dr. Leo Galland.

With allergies becoming a problem for more and more people, what can sufferers do to treat the symptoms?

"It all starts in your gut because most of your immune system is in your gut," said Dr. Galland. "The bacteria in your gut needs to be healthy because it serves as a drill sergeant."

To build up the bacteria, Dr. Galland recommends incorporating fermented foods into your diet like yogurt and kimchi; also fruits and vegetables. 

"Probiotics help the symptoms of nasal allergies, mostly lactobacillus probiotics," adds Dr. Galland.

Skip trans fats which can increase allergic activity.
