NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Now that the holiday season is coming to a close, the New York City Dept. of Sanitation is ready to take away those discarded Christmas trees.
There are a few things to remember before dumping the tree.
First, remove all decorations including lights.
Second, place the stripped-down tree on the curb and NOT on the street, no matter how close you might want to put it to the actual sidewalk.
Sanitation workers are picking up the trees Jan. 4- Jan. 15.
The old Christmas trees will be recycled and turned into mulch.
