NEW YORK - What's it like to be the wife of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio? NYC First Lady Chirlane McCray, who has been married to de Blasio since 1994, says it was love at first sight-- "for him."
At the time, McCray was a speech writer for former Mayor David Dinkins.
"I was a little dubious," joked McCray. "He was a very humble guy; very humble and hard working."
The pair met inside City Hall.
"Not far from where his office is today," said McCray.
The couple starts their day together by hitting the gym in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
"Our car is like our mobile office. During that 20 minutes (car ride to gym), we get the media update, we find out what's going on in the city. It's a very productive time," said McCray.
Home, by the way, is Gracie Mansion, and while it's beautiful, it's not home, adds the First Lady.
"It's a lovely place. It's a great place to work, but it's an event space; it's a museum. There are always people around." said McCray.
Chiara, 21, and Dante, 18, the children of the de Blasios will be home for Christmas.
"We're a very close family. We are looking forward to this holiday season," said McCray.
