NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Music producer and rapper Jermaine Dupri doesn't care for singing competition TV shows. So he's created his own contest, The Rap Game, airing on Lifetime, and is looking for the next big rap star.
"I wanted to show the grind of coming up in the music industry. I don’t really care for those type of shows. It doesn’t really give you… a sense of what actually happens. This is not really what goes into putting out an artist,” said Dupri.
On 'The Rap Game,' Dupri presents a topic to the contestants and they must create a rap based on that subject.
'The Rape Game' debuts January 1 at 10 p.m.
