NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Soccer is not Daniel Radcliffe’s cup of tea. The British actor of 'Harry Potter' fame and Broadway's 'Equus,' and 'How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,' says he loves fantasy football and the NFL.
"I’m a huge NFL fan and that seems to amaze people about an English person," said Radcliffe.
While he did grow up a fan, Radcliffe eventually developed a different perception of the world's most played sport.
“I grew up loving soccer because you have to. I fell out of love with it. All the falling over and flopping does my head in. In American football, if a guy falls over, it’s because his knee has just exploded. There’s reason to. It’s not the reason I watch the game. But it’s a more athletic, tougher sort of sport," said Radcliffe.
When it comes to wagering in fantasy sports, which just took a big blow in New York where it can no longer be legally played, Radcliffe says it's his girlfriend who is taking the news the hardest.
“I’m going to cope with that OK, but my girlfriend is going to be bitterly disappointed. She’s almost developed a gambling problem with that," said Radcliffe.
