The Whole Foods Diet

- Whole Foods CEO John Mackey eats steel cut oats for breakfast every morning. He also has a green smoothie.

In his new book, The Whole Foods Diet,' Mackey shares a 28-day dietary program for healthier living.  At the core of The Whole Foods Diet is the message: consume more plant-based foods and less un-processed foods.

Mackey's Tips:
              1. Eat More Plant-Based, Unprocessed Foods
              2. Learn To Love The Natural Flavors Of Food
              3. Get Rid Of Anything That Contains Excess Sugar, White Flour
              4. Cook Healthy Foods At Home

Mackey's Favorite Smoothie Recipes:

1 banana
1 cup of other fruit (fresh or frozen)- berries, apple, mango, pear, or other
A couple big bandfuls of raw greens-kale, spinach, romaine or other
1 small handful of nuts- or a tablespoon of chia seeds or ground flaxseeds
Water or unsweetened nondairy milk- 1 to 2 cups
Blend all ingredients, and enjoy

1 cup peeled or chopper cucumber (1 medium cucumber)
2 or 3 leaves of green kale
1/2 cup baby spinach
1 peeled banana
1/2 cup frozen mango
3 tablespoons hemp hearts
1 teaspoon matcha
1 cup unsweetened nondairy milk
Blend on high until smooth
