NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Three-time Olympic long-distance runner Suzy Favor Hamilton shares the story behind her fall from grace and the struggle to get her life back on track in the new book, "Fast Girl: A Life Running From Madness."
In 2012, months after she had been diagnosed with bi-polar disorder, Favor Hamilton began working as an escort in Las Vegas.
Her desire to sell her body was due to her heightened sexual needs brought on by bi-polar disorder.
"I took my running competition into my escorting. I couldn’t just be an escort, I had to be the number one escort," said Favor Hamilton.
The married, mother of a 10-year-old girl was eventually outed by a client, some 100 clients later and rates as high as $1,200 for two hours.
"I was getting reckless and started telling my clients who I was. One of my clients went to the 'Smoking Gun'," said Favor Hamilton.
Today, the Wisconsin native is focusing on her mental health condition and her family.
"The thing I will live with the rest of my life is the pain I’ve caused my family, my husband, my daughter," said Favor Hamilton.
