'The Warriors' return to Coney Island

Stars from the cult classic, The Warriors.

- When it was released in 1979, the stars behind the now cult classic film, The Warriors, took heat for what critics said was its poor representation of New York City.  "They said it propagated violence," said Thomas Waites who played 'Fox.' It was a dangerous time in the big city, so much so that real criminals interfered with the movie's filming."They could tell we were just a bunch of actors. They started to taunt us and get in the way of shooting. Ultimately, it was a very successful movie," added Waites.

Cast members Dorsey Wright and David Harris will be joining Waites for a special reunion on Coney Island.

The celebration of The Warriors organized by Eric Nyenhuis takes place Sunday, Sept. 13 at the Surf Pavilion. Doors open at 10 a.m.

"It’s exciting and strange at the same time. It’s very nice. You don’t expect something like this 30 something odd years later," said Wright.
