NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - Three times is indeed the charm for actor Mahershala Ali when it comes to watching himself on the big screen.
The star of 'House of Cards' and the new movie 'Free State of Jones' says it takes three times watching his work to enjoy the movie.
"The first time I watch anything I'm in I'm really uncomfortable and I usually don't enjoy it. The second time, I can get passed seeing myself. The third time, I really enjoy it," said Ali.
In 'Free State of Jones' Ali plays 'Moses Jones' and shares the screen with Oscar winner Matthew McConaughey.
"He is a great guy to work with. He's one of the most generous actors I've ever spent time with. He's extraordinarily focused," said Ali.
The movie is about a farmer who deserts the Confederacy and leads a rebellion against the Confederacy with freed slaves. He eventually becomes an advocate for Civil Rights.
'Free State of Jones' opens June 24.
