NEW YORK (FOX 5 NY) - "Those of us who knew Prince knew he was a health nut, very leveled, very clear, very focused. I know TMZ and other media sell what they sell, but we'll see when the report turns up on his body," said Londell McMillan, owner/publisher of The Source.
TMZ reported Thursday that Prince had to be revived six days before his death after overdosing on painkillers.
McMillan, a close friend of the music icon and his attorney, spoke with Prince as recently as Sunday.
"It was very brief and he said everything was perfect," said McMillan.
On Tuesday, Prince's private jet made an emergency landing in Illinois following a concert in Atlanta and after reportedly suffering a drug overdose.
"I did not know Prince like that at all. I've never even seen Prince have an alcoholic drink. At the time when would hang out in clubs, I drank quite a bit. I haven't had a drink in 23 years. We used to see each other all the time back in the day. Our recent relationship has been really wonderful and pure. I think I was the only artist he ever interviewed. He would have obviously brought up drugs because I was a recovering addict and we never went down that road, " said musician Nile Rodgers.
An autopsy was being conducted Friday with results expected to take up to several weeks.
Prince was found dead in an elevator inside his massive home in suburban Minneapolis on Thursday morning.
