New FOX 5 show 'New York's Star of the Day'

Ernie Anastos previews a new show on FOX 5, 'New York's Star of the Day.'

- Fox 5 News anchor Ernie Anastos will be doing double-duty starting in September. Along with anchoring the 6 p.m. news on weeknights, the longtime TV personality will be hosting a new talent competition on FOX 5, 'New York's Star of the Day.'  

"It will be a New York version of 'American Idol.' Anybody who wants to audition, can. If you win, you could get a major recording contract and a new car," said Anastos.

'New York's Star of the Day' premieres Sunday, Sept. 13 at 5:30 p.m. and will run for 13 weeks.

There will be three performers on every show. Former New York Yankee-turned-musician Bernie Williams will lead an all-star band. A celebrity judging panel will include Judge Marilyn Milian and Fox 5 entertainment reporter Simone Boyce.

Anyone interested can submit an video audition online.

Audience tickets for the show, which will be held at Resorts World Casino in Queens, can also be ordered online.
