NHL could be 1st major sports league in Las Vegas

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman brought along the Stanley Cup to talk NHL playoffs with Duke Castiglione.

- Fifty percent of the players in the National Hockey League come from Canada.

That said, it comes as no surprise that the league is considering expanding into Canada, specifically Quebec City. But the focus isn't entirely up north. The NHL could be the first major sports league to have a team in Las Vegas, Nevada.

"Maybe it will be us; maybe it won't. It's an intriguing possibility," said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman.

Several factors are coming into play as Bettman considers the possible expansion.

"Owners have been going through an evaluation process to determine if we want to expand. It could be no teams,  1 team or two teams," said Bettman.
