Sleep deprivation is not the key to success, says Huffington

Journalist Arianna Huffington has written a new book, 'The Sleep Revolution.'

- Arianna Huffington, co-founder of The Huffington Post, knows what it takes to be successful and it's not sleep deprivation.

Huffington, who collapsed in 2007 from exhaustion and lack of sleep, has written a book about the false notion that working until you drop is the key to success.

"The truth is that’s when you make mistakes. Everyone knows that,” said Huffington.

Scientists recommend anywhere between seven to nine hours of sleep per night.

In her 15th book, 'The Sleep Revolution: Transforming Your Life One Night At A Time,' Huffington writes that people need to prioritize sleep to reach success.

"We think we’re busy, we have so much we try to manage so we can cut down on sleep, but we can’t if we want to be healthy, happy and productive," said Huffington.

She points to various examples on the presidential campaign trail and some low moments by candidates Donald Trump, Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush that could be linked to a lack of rest and sleep.

"There is definitely a connection between sleep deprivation and saying stupid things," said Huffington about Trump.

The real estate mogul reportedly gets only four hours of sleep per night.
