In this commentary, Mr. Leone talks about local TV news clichés.
Fox 5's Joel Waldman recently reported on annoying things that local TV news stations do. While we regularly receive and appreciate comments from our viewers, this story went viral and prompted many of you to share your thoughts.
Some of the things Joel reported on include tired clichés and endless snowy weather coverage.
I want you to know that we take your comments seriously and we have made some adjustments.
For example, you will not see a Fox 5 reporter using a ruler to measure snow or outside standing in the dark without giving you a reason for why they are there.
I can't promise that we will lose all of the clichés but we will do our best to be original and offer the type of coverage you are looking for.
As for weather coverage, our job is a bit tricky. Some viewers can't get enough weather and others just want the forecast without long explanations.
However everyone agrees that we should not tease weather as in "stay tuned for weather." We promise to at least give you tomorrow's forecast right away but may ask you to hang around for a longer explanation.
I encourage you to use our website, social media outlets, or email to keep your comments coming. As you know, the customer is always right.
Thank you for watching Fox 5 we appreciate your loyalty.
