Zac Efron and Emily Ratajkowski in 'We Are Your Friends'

"We Are Your Friends" stars Zac Efron as Cole, an aspiring DJ searching for his voice on a path challenged by his feelings for Sophie, played by model-turned-actress Emily Ratajkowski.

Since the world got to know him in "High School Musical," Efron has been strategic in choosing his projects and honing his craft. And for Ratajkowski, who burst into public consciousness in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" music video, her creative evolution continues with this role.

As Cole follows his dream in the film, he's confronted with forks in the road that force him to make sacrifices. But while Efron's character struggles with his friends as his career takes off, Zac himself faces a different reality, explaining that his longtime friends "don't give a hoot."

"We Are Your Friends" opens in theaters Friday, August 28.
